Highland is that rare combination of Americana and urban opportunity. Only 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis, the community is home to 9,000 people, but still maintains a small-town atmosphere. Highland continues to grow in all areas necessary for success, while maintaining an outstanding quality of life.
In Highland there is a strong sense of pride and community spirit evident in the number of community organizations in which one can get involved.
People care about the community, schools and churches, and do whatever is necessary to retain those important aspects of life. Their care extends to those less fortunate as well, as is evidenced in the many Social Service organizations active here.

With a number of formal Neighborhood Watch programs and the fact that neighbors look out for one another, Highland is a safe community. At all hours of the day one will see families out walking, playing sports together in one of the many parks or visiting with neighbors. The Highland Police Department is very visible within the community - especially the officers who attend most community events.
It takes only one drive through town to notice that Highland residents take care of their community; lawns are mowed and manicured, houses are well maintained and the city's public areas are well kept.
