Art in the Park
Highland’s premier art event, Art in the Park is held at beautiful Lindendale Park, offering a tranquil setting for nearly 70 professional artists to display their works of fine art. While festival attendees shop for works of art in twelve categories, they can also explore various forms of culinary delight at food stands located within the park. Children, too, have the opportunity to shop at a special children’s gallery or even create their own works of art at the children’s outdoor studio. Hard Road Theatre Productions
Highland’s own community theatre group. Established in 2001, their first
production was Steel Magnolias in September of that year. Since then, hundreds of talented local thespians have delighted audiences in several dozen productions. Currently, the group produces four shows each year, one being a children’s production. Performances are held at the Highland Elementary School Auditorium, Highland Middle School

Lory Theater
Built in 1912, The Lory Theater has been showing movies to the residents of Highland since the movie industry came of age. Prior to that, the Theater was a live entertainment facility used for everything from plays to vaudeville shows. With current seating available for 230 in the main theater and 98 in the second, the theater is the primary new movie source for Highland and the surrounding area. Renovated by local couple Justin and Hillary McLaughlin, The Lory RE-OPENED on Dec 26th 2012. Street Art Festival
Artists “take to the streets” for this unique festival as they transform the streets around the downtown square into a temporary art gallery. Artists create colorful masterpieces using chalk as their medium. Visitors enjoy great food and street musicians as they watch the artwork come to life. Sponsored by the Highland Chamber of Commerce, the Street Art Fest is held the third Saturday in September.
