Highland’s Annual Street Art Festival –held the 3rd Saturday in September – This unique festival is an art lovers dream with something to appeal to young, old and everyone in between!
More than fifty talented artists participate and prizes awarded as street painters transform the pavement into a temporary art gallery, creating colorful masterpieces of amazing depth and complexity – with chalk!
Musical art is also featured as musicians perform throughout the day on Saturday. Budding young artists can search for artistic treasure at the Kreative Kids Korner where special projects, activities and games are planned for kids, guaranteeing a fun and memorable art experience.

Enjoy your lunch hour on the historic downtown Square. Both kids and adults will enjoy the free outdoor entertainment, PB&J sandwiches and popcorn. Highland’s homecoming is the celebration of our Swiss heritage. At the Schweizerfest, visitors enjoy activities, rides, entertainment and food in addition to parades both Saturday and Sunday nights.

Sponosored by the Highland Historical Society, this three day event is packed with activities including demonstrations of threshing, old-time crafts, gas and steam engines, antique tractors, kids activities and tours of the most modern house around in the early 1900’s. Enjoy refreshments as you sit in the shade listening to old-time music.

This fun family activity takes place at Highland’s Silver Lake Park. Follow the trail and look for a variety of animals and insects. Then, look to the stars through a telescope and see what hides in the sky. The evening finishes up with refreshments by the fire.

Lindendale Park offers a tranquil setting where nearly 70 professional artists display their works of fine art. Festival attendees can shop for works of art in twelve categories. Children, too, can shop for just $5.00 at a special art gallery of work donated by the artists.
