Highland Industry

Industry

Highland enjoys a strong economic climate. Though local industry began by primarily servicing the agricultural community, Highland now benefits significantly from a mix of employment, including agriculture, clean manufacturing, healthcare, service and retail. A strong Midwestern work ethic is visible at every stop from the hard-working farmer harvesting grain to the self-employed retail worker decorating her shop windows to the diligent manufacturing plant employee turning out products to be shipped throughout the world.
Highland’s strong retail community is ready to serve and offers a variety of products for gift giving and personal use. Highland houses several quaint gift shops, a large retail super center, locally owned grocery stores, pharmacies, clothing stores and an eclectic mix of restaurants.

Basler Electric   Personal services are abundant in Highland, including banking and financial services, dry cleaners, attorneys, accountants and many more. Highland is also home to the headquarters of several national and worldwide companies, including Basler Electric.Highland Supply Corp. Highland manufacturers produce a number of interesting products, including pipe organs, aircraft parts, commercial hair dryers, Easter grass, animal feed supplements, electronics, electric motors, corrugated shipping containers and much more.

Highland, IL Agriculture   Agriculture still contributes significantly to the local economy as well. Local dairy farms are among some of the top producers in the Midwest and corn, soybean and wheat farmers contribute significantly to the gross national product.

For many reasons, Highland is on the radar screen for new businesses looking to locate into the area. This fact can be attributed to the community’s convenient location to Interstate 70 and St. Louis, the significant amount of available acreage perfect for new commercial construction and the availability of existing or potential retail sites.
