Madison County Fair in Highland

  Little more than 45 minutes from the bustle of St Louis is the Madison County Fair, looking like something right out the film State Fair. Brimming with livestock exhibits, a wide variety of competitions and arena events, there is more than enough to do for everyone.

  If you enjoy 4H shows, check the schedule for the times to see horses, goats, dogs, swine, beef, cats, sheep, rabbits, poultry, and dairy. Plan to stay for the 4H auction on Thursday. Judging will go on throughout the length of the fair.

  Interesting contests taking place at the fair include the Miss Pigtail Contest, Pedal Tractor Pull, and Fiddle Contest. The evenings continue the excitement with arena events like the Tractor-Truck Pull, Lawn Mower Demo Derby, UMP Race, Combine Demolition Derby and Car Demolition Derby. Arts and crafts lovers should be sure to check out the Craft Fair on Thursday. Free musical entertainment is offered every night under the Pavilion with a different performer each night.

  Whether you come for a day or stay for the week, the Madison County Fair is a summer time must.
